Bridging the Gap Between Tech and Health

UCSF has been a constant provider of industry events and networking opportunities, but the interim chancellor wants to go “further than presentations and conversations.”

In a recent feature from Ron Leuty for the San Francisco Business Times, Sam Hawgood says:

“(We are) actually figuring out a way that we can work together — whether its nurses or pharmacists embedding in Silicon Valley or their engineers coming on to the Mission Bay campus and working side by side with people seeing patients and wrestling with real-world problems that could have tech solutions,” Hawgood said. “Getting those two worlds together is exciting.”

Noting a recent deal with Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Hawgood  said the graduate-level, health care-centric university is “increasingly reaching out to high-tech companies and entrepreneurs.”
